Our members are a mix of social and competitive runners with ages ranging from 20 to 60 something, At our most recent AGM membership was 152 with 53% being female. We hold our own club championship and compete in local road/trail races year all year round as well as our own handicap events. In winter we compete in the North West Sunday Cross Country League.
We have several social events throughout the year and a annual presentation of club awards and achievements.
We meet regularly to run on the footpaths and roads of South Warrington with summer routes including some scenic runs through woodland, fields and canal paths. Our Tuesday run is anything from three to ten miles and nobody is ever left behind. How far you run depends on you but we will always try to match up “new” runners with EA qualified Run Leaders or other experienced members to introduce you to the routes and to make sure you don't get lost. On Thursday nights we train at Victoria Park on the running track in a coach led session. The training link will provide more details.
Members can also gain age-related standards these take into account gender and age and are a fairer indication of achievement.
Tuesday 6.35pm at Broomfields Leisure Centre, Appleton for a start 10 minutes later. We meet in the main school car park by the front entrance.
Thursday 7:15 pm at Victoria Park running track for a speed session.
Sunday morning long slow runs, arranged mutually between members.Want to know more about the club? Please e-mail the club Secretary Alison Morgan - she will be glad to help.
We would love to see you and we welcome any new runners.
