Winter Handicap (approx 6.5 miles)
- Leave Broomfields via the main gate, bare right and then turn right on to Dingleway.
- At the end, turn left on to Bridge Lane, continue down hill until the end, and turn left on to Lumb Brook Road.
- Before reaching the bridge turn right onto Stockton Lane. Pass the gate that blocks access to vehicles and remain on Stockton Lane going slightly up hill. Passing Grappenhall Sports Club on the left the road now runs parallel to Chester Road on the other side of the canal on the left. As the road bends to the Right and there are houses on both sides, turn sharp right onto Broad Lane.
- Follow Broad Lane slightly up hill, then down into a dip. From this point the road bends gently to the right and climbs steadily up hill.
- On reaching the roundabout continue straight on to what is now Grappenhall Lane.
- N.B. Take care at this point the industrial estate on the left often has lorries and coaches leaving, even on a Sunday morning.
- After approx. 300m take the first turning on the right, this is a continuation of Grappenhall Lane.
- Continue along this road eventually passing through some modern housing until you reach the Thorn Inn.
- At the Thorn Inn turn Right onto Lumb Brook Road, pass the last of the houses, then the sports field on your right the road begins to drop away slightly.
- On reaching the black and white bollards and a few more houses on the right, take the obvious right hand 90 degree bend in the road in order to remain on Lumb Brook Road.
- DO NOT continue straight on to Dingle Lane.
- Continue along Lumb Brook Road, just before you reach the new roundabout; take the raised Cycle path on the left.
- Cross Witherwin Avenue and continue on Lumb Brook Road, you will see the fields dropping away on the left and a farm on the right. As the road bends left the road falls away sharply.
- At the bottom of the decent turn left onto Bridge Lane, running uphill past the houses and shops you passed at the start of the run.
- Turn right on to Dingleway, then left at the Church onto Broomfields Road, continue straight on into Broomfields via the main gate.
